Welcome to the School of Languages and Learning Resources
The School of Languages and Learning Resources comprises English as a Second Language (ESL) and Adult ESL, Learning Centers, and five world languages: ASL (Sign), Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish.
The ESL/AESL program offers non-native English speakers English language courses that foster students’ success in college, at their jobs, and in the community. In the Adult ESL (AESL) Program, students earn Certificates of Competency by completing a course sequence at the beginning, intermediate, or advanced level. The Learning Centers facilitate students’ success in a variety of disciplines by providing specialized assistance in the form of tutoring, test taking, and other services. Eligibility for services is based on current course enrollment. The World Languages Department offers beginner through intermediate courses that enable students to engage in interpersonal communication in ASL (Sign), Chinese, French, Japanese and Spanish. Students gain cultural insight, global perspective, and have the opportunity to attend cultural events and participate in club events and conversational practice.
