About Me

Hello! Please call me Mrs. C. I am fortunate to be one of the many excellent instructors IVC has to offer. I enjoy teaching, and have had the opportunity to teach both English and ESL writing classes in a variety of California colleges. Before I became an educator, I lived in Mexico for two years; now, I am firmly planted in the Southern California soil and I plan to continue teaching here for many years; nonetheless, I also dream of helping students in the global online community develop their English skills through videos, lectures, and books. Writing proficiently and using grammar correctly is a powerful tool to convey precise meaning in written contexts. On paper, an equal opportunity for success truly exists regardless of ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic class, or language background. Moreover in our technology-driven global society, writing and reading well are prized skills in most environments. As I communicate my own passion for reading and writing, I hope to facilitate students' personal development of these skills. Besides teaching, I also enjoy reading, writing, sewing, crocheting, knitting, cooking and many other indoor activities. In between grading assignments, I keep busy outdoors with Mr. C as well by bicycling, gardening, kayaking, hiking, and sailing. That's me. Who are you? I hope to find out and see you in my classroom!
