Hello everyone—nice to meet you! Here's a little bit about me. I was born in Los Angeles and have lived in southern California all my life. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts (Art History/Theory/Criticism) with a History minor from UC San Diego, and my Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Cal State Fullerton. I also hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (Kindergarten-8th grade) and a Secondary Teaching Credential in English (7th-12th grade).
My overall teaching experience and expertise is extensive. In addition to teaching at Irvine Valley College, I also currently teach at Saddleback College and UC Irvine. Before that, I taught ESL classes at the American Language Program—an intensive English program for international students—at Cal State Fullerton. I also taught K-12 level classes for six years both part- and full-time. One of the things I particularly enjoy about teaching is that I can integrate my love of art, drama, literature, film, and music with the teaching of English as a Second Language. All of my loves rolled into one!
In my free time, I enjoy visiting art museums, going to the symphony, exploring new places, discovering and trying new foods, going to the beach, and reading. My favorite author is Ray Bradbury, and in general I love reading tales of mystery and suspense. As for art, I particularly enjoy the art of the California Impressionists, the Canadian Group of Seven, and the Ashcan School. My movie and TV interests include old horror and science fiction movies and comedies. My favorite TV shows are "The Twilight Zone" and "I Love Lucy."
Someday I hope to take some jewelry-making classes and learn how to make jewelry. I also hope to one day continue my studies of French and German so I can learn them fluently.
