ELEVATE AAPI @ IVC offers various programs, services and resources to help you advance in your academic, personal and professional career.
ELEVATE counselors are available for drop-in and scheduled appointments. Please visit the CAANAPI in B353 to make an appointment.
ELEVATE hosts cultural events designed for our students as well as ones intended for our community at large. Campus events may include film screenings, panel discussions, performances, and art viewings. At-large community events are open to the public and are intended to celebrate and share intricacies of Asian American and Pacific Islander ethnic groups.
Community Education: Tagalog Class
Starting in Spring 2017, ELEVATE is offering three Community Education courses in Conversational Tagalog: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. For more information, please also go to the IVC Community Education.
Math Summer Camp
In conjunction with the Math Department, ELEVATE offers a Summer Math Camp for incoming students to who wish to reinforce their math skills in order to retest into a higher math course. A trigonometry refresher session will be added in preparation for the Fall 2017 semester.

ELEVATE offers a variety of academic, professional, and personal enrichment workshops. Workshop dates and times will be posted under Upcoming Events. Topics will include:

ELEVATE Learning Community (ELC): Fall 2017
Two ELEVATE Learning Communities will be offered in the fall semester. One will pair COUN 10 with COMM 1 to foster study and communication skills. The second will pair COUN 10 with WR 1 to focus on study and writing skills. Days and times will be announced in the fall 2017 schedule.
First Year Experience (FYE): Fall 2017
The First Year Experience program will encompass various components to ensure that students are on a pathway to success. Participants will enroll in an ELEVATE Learning Community (ELC) in the fall semester, an ELEVATE recommended class in the spring semester and make faculty mentor appointments, participate in cultural events, and workshops sponsored or endorsed by ELEVATE throughout the year. FYE enrolled students will be eligible for an ELEVATE First Year Experience scholarship.
ELEVATE Faculty Mentors (EFM): Fall 2017
An ELEVATE Faculty Mentor will be available for two hours for drop-in or scheduled appointments each month. EFMs are there to engage students and provide guidance throughout a student’s journey at IVC.
Leadership Development: 2018
Students will have opportunities to develop leadership skills by attending training and workshops, manage and administer service learning projects, plus engage and collaborate with community-based organizations.
ELEVATE Peer Mentors (EPM): 2018
Students looking for additional guidance and advice from fellow students will be assigned an EPM. Returning students in good standing will be eligible to become EPMs for the following academic year.
