Joanne Chen

Professor of Chinese

Education: B.A. History - National Taiwan University, Taipei,

M.A. Art History - Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA

Professor Chen joined Irvine Valley College in 2000. She was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. After graduating from NTU,she came to the US to pursue her graduate studies and started to teach Chinese. She has taught Chinese at secondary schools and college level students and has over fifteen years of experience. Professor Chen is also involved in many volunteer projects in local Chinese schools, including language teacher's workshops, writing curricula of Chinese courses; and developing computer aided language learning projects. She has presented over 10 academic papers at various Chinese language teaching conferences since 1996. Professor Chen utilizes her many experiences traveling, living, and working abroad to make her classes interesting and engaging.
