IVC, Class of 2009
Major: Political science
MUN Team Member
Now: Master of Arts in International Affairs and Master of Public Health in Global Health (MA/MPH), George Washington University.
My interest is in improving surveillance systems to monitor and control infectious diseases through global health diplomacy. I've worked in Haiti and Martinique, helping to control malaria and dengue fever. I plan to make a career in international organizations such as the UN, WHO or the Global Fund, focusing on developing health programs and global health policy.
My studies at IVC greatly shaped my views on international relations and global health. My International Relations and Model United Nations classes were pivotal in changing my interests in public health from domestic to global. The skills that I learned in those classes, such as writing in international affairs and position papers, have become fundamental skills that I still use in my work.
