IVC Political Science Alumni: Where are they now?
Charlie Clinch attended IVC from Fall 2002 to Spring 2004. During his time here he focused on completing the IGETC curriculum before transferring to UCLA in 2004 to complete his B.A. in Political Science. While at IVC Charlie was a member of IVC's nationally award winning Model United Nations program, eventually serving as the group's head delegate. "My time at Irvine Valley College was amazing. The top-notch political science program more than prepared me for my upper division coursework at UCLA. Thanks to the quality of the courses and experience provided by the Model United Nations, I quickly adjusted to the expectations at UCLA and was well equipped to succeed," says Charlie, who also went on to spend 5 months living and working with a development program in Peru. After graduating from UCLA with honors, Charlie was accepted to the University of Michigan Law School, where he completed his J.D. in 2009. Charlie now works for a leading international law firm in London, primarily focusing on cross-border capital markets transactions. "The political science program at IVC not only prepared me to succeed at UCLA and in law school, but also exposed me to international politics in ways that I still find valuable working with clients from around the world. The Model United Nations prepared me to work in an increasingly globalized economy," indicated Charlie. While at IVC, Charlie took courses in International Relations, American Government, Comparative Politics, and regional politics.
