As part of the South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) the Advanced Technology and Education Park (ATEP) has decades of experience in workforce training and education. Customized workforce training and consulting is offered through the CACT which was established on the Irvine Valley College Campus in 1997 and moved to ATEP in the spring of 2007. The ATEP Center for Applied & Competitive Technologies (CACT) is a college-based team of advanced technology experts dedicated to solving operational, personnel, and technical problems. The highly specialized technical consultants and instructors of the ATEP/CACT work through the California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development (CCCEWD) initiative. They are dedicated to serving California's advanced technology companies with innovative solutions that are unique and customized. The ATEP/CACT offers technology education, manufacturing training, organizational development and consulting services that contribute to continuous workforce development, technology deployment and business development. The ATEP/CACT center can custom design training programs to addresses your specific organizational needs.

Organizational Development

  • Organizational Leadership, classic leadership theories and their effective applications within various organizations.
  • Technology in Leadership, how technology is changing the role of leadership and what leaders must do to leverage the advantages and avoid the pitfalls.
  • Strategic Planning, methods and structures that provide the framework for strategic business planning.
  • Effective Communications, understanding the difference between dialogue and debate and they are used to gain perspectives, process information and effectively communicate the resulting goals and objectives.
  • Chinese for Business Communications, greetings and exchange of personal information, design and use of business cards in China, negotiating in a polite and effective manner.
  • Teambuilding, elements that make teams effective, types of teams, team player styles and shared leadership theories. Includes Parker Team Player Style evaluation.
  • Coaching for Performance, employee coaching techniques and their application to foster performance.

Consulting services

  • Custom Designed Training, to fit any specific organizational need. Facilitated on-site or in-house. Covering any of the subjects we currently offer or new programs as required. Offered on a non-profit cost recovery basis.
  • Product Design/Prototype/Development, design support, rapid prototyping, CAD CAM and supply chain development.
  • Business improvement initiatives, Lead and Six Sigma assessments and project proposals, Kaizen events facilitated.
  • Quality Certifications, assessments and recommendations for gaining or renewing ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 quality standards.
  • Business Plan Development, creating new businesses or expanding existing businesses into new markets. Specializing in integrating high technologies.
